Meet Coach sean

Sean Dawdy was born and raised in Melbourne, Florida. From the age of 11 he began homeschooling and started learning Tae-Kwon-Do at Family Tae-Kwon-Do & Fitness Center. (FTKD)

He also enjoyed skateboarding, baseball and gymnastics. When he turned 16 he started working at a local Publix as a bag boy and eventually become a stock clerk. After he earned his black belt he started working at FTKD at the front desk and instructing on the mat. He moved into an apartment with his training partner at the age of 19 so he could buy a motorcycle, and bought a motorcycle.

Currently working 3 part time jobs, Sean decided to look for a way to earn more money teaching martial arts. He found an ad for a job in Atlanta, GA on Craigslist and applied.
After interviewing over the phone he was flown to into Atlanta for a weekend interview and was offered a position at The Dojo as a junior instructor. At the age of 20 he left his family in Florida and moved into an apartment with a fellow coach in Athens, Georgia.

Sean learned a lot while working at The Dojo, and resigned 7 years later. After 8 months of soul searching and thought, he decided to open his own martial arts studio, Karate RX.

Ninja Warrior

After two years of training, Sean ran the American Ninja Warrior course in Atlanta, GA during Season 11 of the show. He fell on the second obstacle but still enjoys going to Ninja Quest every now and then to workout with his friends.

Crossfit

After finding no success in traditional body building in Georgia Sean started working out at Crossfit Pure. He took classes there for a year but quit when he moved into a new apartment. He started working out at Crossfit Faded Glory in 2016 and coached for about 6 months.

2020 - 2021

During the beginning of the pandemic Coach Sean switched to virtual classes and worked overnight shifts at Publix to make sure Karate RX survived. In December of 2020 Sean earned his fourth degree black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do at his home studio in Melbourne, Florida. Going into 2021 he started learning Jiu-Jitsu after hours at his gym and ended the year with a NAGA competition (he lost).

Sean about to lose a match at NAGA :)

He converted his upstairs office at KRX into another mat for students to train on and eventually left Publix so he could focus on the business and mentoring at WJES. He won the “Mentor of the Year Award” for his work at West Jackson Elementary School and enjoyed running the Tug of War at their field day again. :)

2022

Sean found a nearby academy to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has been training twice a week for almost a year as of this writing. If you are interested in learning grappling and are looking for a great instructor, look no further than Iron Wolf Academy. In February a large number of students from KRX competed in the North GA Open and motivated some to compete more often. Our competition team competed again at the North Georgia Open and improved greatly over the prior year. We got tons of medals and memories!

2023 - Now

Coach Sean earned his blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu at the beginning of 2023. He currently attends class twice a week as well as a private lesson once a week with Professor Caleb. He is focused on improving his lesson planning and systems so his program and his coaches can continue to flourish in the future.
